Bid / Procurement / Tender Abbreviations: EOI, RFP, RFT and RFQ



  1. RFI= Request (or Registration) for information: Market research and planning tool to help purchasers identify the scope for a second, more formal request. When the purchaser does not have sufficient information or understanding to write a detailed.
  2. EOI= Expression Of Interest: Early stages of the procurement process scoping requirements stage.
  3. RFP= Request for Proposals: Buyer goes to market for solutions-oriented approaches to service or product delivery.
  4. RFO= Request for Offer:  Solutions-based responses to meet the needs.
  5. RFT= Request for Tender: proposal on the table around how you would design a solution or deliver a product. Very clearly defined specifications. 
  6. RFQ= Request for Quotation: When specifications are defined clearly and not seeking alternative or innovative options
